There has been a lot of talk about zombies lately, even before all this Rapture brouhaha (even Jane Austin has gotten into the act, God rest her soul). Most of the time, the undead get a very bad rap in the media–and in movies and video games–these zombies are very, very pissed. So why are the undead so angry?
Think about it. Their lives are over. They had their chance to make the most of life when they were living it. Now that they’re dead, they can see clearly how much time they wasted. These were people like you and me who had all the opportunities, all this potential, and they wasted it watching Jersey Shore, griping about trivial crap, checking Facebook, and sucking their own navels. Who wouldn’t be pissed?
I mean, after all, after you’re dead, and you can see clearly that not only did you waste your own life but the people who are still alive are wasting theirs, wouldn’t you want to do something about it? Wouldn’t you just want to throttle those who are left behind?
The best way to defend yourself against zombie wrath isn’t to buy a chain saw, load up on ammo, and stockpile your grub.
Nope, the best defense against zombie attack is to live your life with full on passion and delight. Turn off the reality shows. Stop worrying so much about yourself; act confident in your goodness even when you’re not sure. Volunteer your time to help someone else. Practice compassion and really mean it. Be fully present. Feel emotions–stop numbing yourself out and being dead inside before you’re dead entirely.
If every single one of us took these simple steps to joyful life, the undead would be soothed. No longer angry, the undead would rest in peace, knowing that our lives won’t be wasted and that the world has been left in good hands. Yours.
