Three Good Things to Boost Your Productivity

If you’re getting to the end of your day and you can’t remember what you’ve accomplished, I have a exercise for you to try. It’s called Three Good Things. Not only will this deceptively simple daily reflection help you to enjoy the fruits of your work, you’ll get a nice little boost of positive emotions all around–contributing to a great sense of wellbeing throughout your day.

Not into videos? No problem. Here’s the exercise in a nutshell:

  1. List three good things that happened during your day. No need to over think, anything that you enjoyed or that made you feel the least bit satisfied or happy or even relieved or less stressed.
  2. For each good thing, note the cause. Again, no need to over think. An approximate cause like “I noticed,” or “I replied to her email,” is sufficient.
  3. Repeat at the end of every day for at least five days in a row.
  4. Enjoy greater satisfaction and fulfillment from the good things your efforts produce.
