By the time you read this, I'll be on the road, walking the San Diego Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure. Last year, I walked the Seattle event which raised $5.5 million dollars for the fight against breast cancer! (You can read all about how I took on this personal BHAG and how you can do something similar if you want).
Here are three of reasons I'm walking 60 miles in just 3 days:
- Every 69 seconds a woman dies of breast cancer. That's a mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend who loses her life.
- Komen for the Cure awarded over $90 million in community health grants last year to fund education, screening, and treatment projects. They didn't stop there; $59 million went to researchers around the world.
- The money we raise goes where it's supposed to: research, detection, and treatment. Susan G. Komen for the Cure keeps its expenses low so that women all over the world will receive much needed help.
I want to raise $3000 for this cause and I'm getting close to my objective. Can you help me smash my goal? If you've found value in any of the efforts I make: this blog, the GTD Virtual Study Group, @Context, The League of the Extraordinarily Productive, my workshops and presentations, my coaching–if there's anything I've done that's helped you, would you make a small contribution as a way of saying thanks? Your support and encouragement mean more than you know–that's what keeps me going when the going gets tough and the feet get sore.
And if you've already contributed to my fundraising this time around, please accept my deep and heartfelt gratitude–will you forward this post to someone you know whose life has been affected by this disease? And if you haven't given yet, please consider making a contribution. It's tax deductible and every cent counts.
Making a donation is super easy, just click on this link. Together, you and I can save lives. We've already done it once; let's do it again.
With blessings and gratitude,
Tara
P.S. Don't forget: your tax deductible donation goes directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help fight breast cancer. I pay all my own expenses to walk in the event.
