A great life doesn’t happen by accident. Composed of relationships, home life, career, professional achievement, and more, great lives are lived with intention, on purpose. Uniquely your own, the journey to a great life is defined by you, your strengths, and the choices and actions you take. The 40-Days Forward Program is designed to help improve your ability to reflect, engage in personal and professional growth, and take effective action no matter what your circumstances.
On Wednesday, Feb 25, 2009, I'm inviting you to join me on the 40-Days Forward journey through a series of blog posts, podcasts, and conversations. If you’ve taken this journey with me before, welcome back! If this is your first time, I’m honored to be your guide. 40-Days Forward is built around four key concepts.
Concept One: Rigorous Reflection. Reflection means taking a look at your life as it is now. Successful people see what is real, not what they wish to see or wish was real. The most successful businesses and people are those who are willing to face “brutal reality” without sugar coating it or turning away. The result of rigorous reflection is the ability to see both opportunity and risk with equanimity and act from a solid foundation that is real and whole.
Concept Two: Planning and Goal Setting. Planning is done by determining what is essential. The goals you create for yourself or your business must be based on what you are passionate about, what you do best, and the fuel and resources that drive you and your business. 40-Days Forward planning doesn’t stop there, however. Plans must be flexible, adaptable to changing circumstances. 40-Days Forward helps you to become more resilient so you can bounce back from adversity more rapidly. That means you’ll be more nimble in the face of change and ready to respond to whatever comes your way.
Concept Three: Letting Go. Letting go is the third aspect of the journey into a great life. What might you let go? Tools that don’t work and activities that devour time and money with little or no return are all things you might be leaving behind. Letting go is the most difficult part of 40-Days Forward but once mastered, pays dividends for a lifetime.
Concept Four: Giving Back. Giving springs from abundance, generosity, and gratitude. Giving–what and how to give–is a vital part of the path to a great life. That’s because a great life is one of abundance rather than scarcity. Generosity rather than hoarding or acquiring. Gratitude rather than striving, grasping, or chasing. 40-Days Forward taps into the positive power of giving and teaches what real wealth is–how to get it and how to give it away.
Participants in the 40-Days Forward Program can expect to:
- Gain a more accurate perspective of their status of professional and personal development.
- Assess their strengths, gifts, and talents.
- Create a defined set professional and personal goals with a plan on steps to take to reach those goals.
- Inventory what’s working and what isn’t working and begin to make decisions about what to let go or stop doing.
- Experience an increased sense of abundance, confidence, generosity, and gratitude.
Because stating intentions can be very powerful, also I’m inviting you to join me making a simple pledge.
I, ____________________, commit to embarking on the 40-Days Forward journey by taking time to reflect on the present, assessing my strengths, planning for the future, considering letting go of habits that hold me back, and looking for ways to experience greater abundance, generosity, courage, and confidence.
